Pasta Salad for kids

· January 2, 2013

Summer is well and truly here in Perth! Which calls for quick, easy, cool (as in cold!) lunches to have on a hot day!

One type of lunch I love making in Summer is a Pasta Salad, especially that is able to keep in the fridge for a couple of days, just to nibble on or to have for lunch a few days in a row. I usually make up a big batch on Monday morning and have it there for the kids during the week.

They love the variations you can have from different sauces: Mayo, Tomato Sauce & Mayo, Olive Oil, Salad Dressings
Different ingredients: Different styles of Pasta, Sweetcorn, Cheese, Ham, Tomato, Cucumber, Chicken, Beans, spring onion, lettace, carrot.

On the menu:
Tri Colour Pasta, Sweetcorn, Cheese and Ham (cut into boats, cars and whales)
MissC had a no dressing on her pasta salad today.

What ingredients would you include in your pasta salad? And what dressing?

We used to be able to get dinosaur and teddy bear shaped pasta but I haven’t seen it for ages!! I love a good pasta salad. I made one once with salsa and it was yum!!

Looks yummy. My kids dont like any dressing too. I like to have honey mustard or something like that on mine!

  5. Definitely ham and chicken in mine. And probably good old tomato if it was for Mia, maybe some nice fancy pasta sauce if it was for me, with lots of garlic!

  6. Grace says:

Oh yes!!! Great idea! How cute are those car shaped pieces of cheese!
Hope you stay cool this summer, Yvette!

  7. Ang says:

Looks great. Might give it a go. I think it just may get my twins approval.

  8. I’m a bit boring – I only like my hubby’s homemade mayo, no other dressings for me. Might have to give the cheese shapes a go again for Miss Indi, last time she only played with them lol

Oh yum. I’m always very jealous of how you have the energy and paitents to do these lunches for your children. I’m sure they are very easy to do but just something in my head keeps telling me its to hard.

  10. This looks delicious! Always lots of garlic here.

  11. Trish says:

That salad looks awesome! My Izzy would love it, I definitely need to get some different shape cutters :)

Love the shapes! I might do this for my little man to take to daycare. Bit different to the usual sandwhich.

Another awesome idea for me to jot down – thanks! :)
